Budget Accommodation & Adventures on Lake Bunyonyi

Edirisa is hibernating during Covid-19 — we can open it for you any time, just inform us a day in advance with an email to info@edirisa.org or a WhatsApp message to +256 776 558 123.

Edirisa means a window in Rukiga, the main language of southwestern Uganda. We strive to give our guests an authentic local perspective on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi and beyond.

We are set up as a social enterprise (non-profit company) because we believe that business-oriented activities are the best approach for long-term social and economic development. We think that no progress can be achieved without cultural self-respect.

In 2021 Edirisa is celebrating 20 years of its existence.

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS

Prices listed below are for bed only; add USh 8,000 per person for our tasty set breakfast.

The Family House at Edirisa on Lake Bunyonyi has three spaces: a living room, a Twin Room that can be converted into a triple (bunk bed addition) and a Double Room. Cooking is possible on the roofed veranda in front of the house. There is a toilet nearby.

If you wish to book one of the Family House rooms, the price is USh 55,000 for the twin or USh 65,000 for the double (includes the usage of the living room). If you book both the Twin Room and the Double Room, the price for the entire family house will be USh 100,000.

The Double Cottage has a double bed, a writing table with drawers, a big drum that serves as a coffee table and two foldable chairs for your extra comfort. It is priced at USh 50,000.

The small Dorm contains two sets of bunk beds equipped with bedding and mosquito nets; a dorm bed costs USh 25,000 per person.

No building is self-contained; all rooms share a range of sitting and squatting (ecosan) toilets. The showers are open-air and hot water is fire-heated.

Pitching your own tent costs USh 10,000 per person.

Guests have free access to wifi and canoes and can enjoy a combination of grid and solar electricity.

Finally, the most unusual feature of Edirisa is the swimming platform - basically a submerged swimming pool that allows local children safe learning ...

... and our visitors great sunbathing!

HOW TO GET TO US

The easiest way to reach Edirisa is by special hire taxi (USh 30,000) or a boda-boda motorcycle (USh 7,000) from Kabale Town. There is cheap public transport available on market days (Monday and Friday). Alternatively you can walk to Lake Bunyonyi - it will take you about two and a half hours and provide some fantastic views.

We are in Bufuka village on the eastern shore of Bunyonyi. When coming from Kampala by car, you turn left just after Kabale Town - there will be numerous Bunyonyi signposts. Once you reach the lake you can follow our white signposts. Edirisa comes after Bunyonyi Safaris Resort, the most hotel-like building on the lakeshore. It’s about 30 minutes from Kabale to us; the last 5 minutes the road is rough.

heree! lv bags

,I love the print but I was afraid of getting it dirty since I just toss my wallet in my bag and patent leather is pretty vulnerable to permanent stains. I ended up getting the leopard insolite and I love it! I'd say go for it if you love it! lv bags.
