| Overview of Edirisa's Crafts | |
Edirisa promotes and develops crafts made by Ugandan people. This is their chance to earn something right from the village, where income opportunities are otherwise scarce. Our work with local communities is based on the principles of fair trade. We determine the prices together with the producers (they get 50 to 75% of the final price), pay them as soon as they deliver their products, build a long-term relationship with them and help them develop attractive items. Our on-line catalogue (see the menu on the right) is meant primarily for bulk orders but we also welcome individuals who are willing to cover the costs of packaging and sending. Because the crafts are hand-made, their size, color and pattern may differ from the pictures on the website. Preparing and sending a big order takes at least three weeks. For details and orders write to crafts@edirisa.org.
