Accommodation at The Home

The Home of Edirisa has two accommodation offers: a hostel in Kabale and a guest house above the town. All rooms have mosquito nets and hot showers and a bathtub (guest house) are available. A free museum tour is included. Edirisa's canoe trekking participants enjoy free nights in the Entarure dorm.

Advance booking is highly recommended as we are a boutique operation with merely 19 beds (14 at the hostel, 5 at the guest house).

Museum Hostel

Our hostel in the centre of Kabale Town is arranged around a cultural museum, the rooms have names and paintings from a traditional homestead.

The dormitory with ten beds is called Entarure - based on the raised bed for the married couple under which goats are kept. USh 9,000/3 euros per person.

The twin room is called Ekishengye - it got its name from the communal pot for drinking beer. USh 25,000/8 euros per room.

The single room is called Esanga - it is tiny enough to resemble the traditional umbrella. USh 15,000/3 euros per room.

The comfortable double is called Orunyegye - the witchdoctor's rattle. The room has its own toilet while the shower is shared, located just around the corner. USh 30,000/10 euros for the room.

The Home of Edirisa Extra

Our guest house on the slopes of Makanga Hill (5 minutes by car/15 by foot from the museum) is called The Home Extra. It is a wonderful place to rest, relax and recuperate, or to bring your family to. The area is remarkably peaceful while the town is just around the corner. The house boasts a garden, a terrace with a view, a garage and a fully equipped kitchen (even a toaster is there!).

The house has three rooms that share one washroom with a bathtub.

The Horn is a double room for USh 50,000/17 euros.

The Shaker is a smaller double for USh 40,000/14 euros.

The Drum is a triple room for USh 20,000/7 euros per bed (USh 60,000/20 euros if you book the entire room).

Discounts for longer stays are possible.
